The Illinois Student Organization of Meteorology (ISTORM) is the University of Illinois’ student chapter of the American Meteorological Society. All undergraduate weather enthusiasts are welcome to join, regardless of major. The organization frequently hosts professional development and social events throughout the academic year. Professional development events include coding workshops, internship information sessions, and talks with both private and public sector meteorologists. Social events include game nights, apple picking, Christmas gift exchanges, and more. The organization houses four committees that meet weekly to maintain the club and provide additional experience in key aspects of meteorology: fundraising, social media, forecasting, and broadcasting.
