Biography
Prior to joining the Department of Atmospheric Sciences in August 2020, I earned my B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in meteorology from Penn State University. Here at UIUC, my primary responsibilities are running our online graduate certificate and Master's degree programs in weather and climate risk & data analytics, teaching two courses for these programs, and advising our online students.
When I'm not busy teaching or advising, I am spinning up research on how to help students more effectively learn how to statistically analyze multidimensional weather and climate data. I also really enjoy mentoring undergraduate students on research projects--email me if you're interested in doing a project for Fall 2024 or beyond! Types of projects I have already, or am happy to, mentor undergraduate students in include, but are not limited to:
- studies at the intersection of social science and severe weather - e.g., surveying UIUC students on responses to severe weather events
- observational studies of high-impact weather phenomena
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, dancing (hip-hop & Latin), and playing the cello!
