Congratulations to CliMAS professor Atul Jain for securing new NASA funding to develop the Land-Earth System Digital Twin (L-ESDT)! This innovative project bridges the gap between the virtual and physical worlds by creating a digital counterpart of real-world entities, systems, and processes. It involves developing and maintaining a highly detailed and dynamic digital replica using advanced satellite data and modeling tools that mirror the real-world counterpart's behavior, attributes, and interactions in real-time or near real-time. Ultimately, this digital replica of the Earth System, incorporating various satellite data, will provide more specific, regionalized interactive information on weather and climate change, enhancing forecasting capabilities. This initiative is funded by NASA’s Land Cover and  Land Use Change (LCLUC) and Advanced Information Systems Technology (AIST) programs.
